there was a post on here about a groaning towbar. It seems to have disappeared, so I have opened a new post. Can someone tell me how to clean the alko stabiliser pads please.

My Winterhoff was groaning like mad, now I clean the towbar with spray brake cleaner before hitching up and dry with clean cloth. Works every time for me!

what happened was I went over a sleeping policeman and something scraped. I thought it must be the jockey wheel, but since then its this awful groaning when IU go slow left or right

it is just the pads I am concerned about cleaning I always wipe the ball. I will do it more thoroughly next time but it must be the pads I think. So do I just soak a cloth in something and shove it up where the ball goes and rub it around then let it dry? (in my terms lol)

I just tried this at the weekend. Cleaned the tow ball with brake cleaner and a lite rub with emery paper. Then I sprayed the brake cleaner in the hitch and wiped around with a clean white cloth - Couldn't believe what came out, the cloth was totally black! Don't know if it has solved the problem and we don't go away for another 2 weeks but I am feeling confident. Will probably do it again before we go.
