hi we are going to a campsite in mersea island in colchester just wondered what is the best way to go i have heard the m1-m25 is very slow way to go any ideas??
A14/A12 turn off at Stanway junction from A12 on the south side of Colchester and follow the signs to Mersea Island, the route can SOMETIMES be busy between Stanway and Mersea rd in Colchester, but no real probs.

If you are coming from Northampton there is no need to go anywhere near the M25.
A14, then A12. You could take Stanway junct off A12 as suggested above, but if you want a more direct route email me at address below.

as said b4 go down A14 onto M11 then on to A120, A120 duel all the way to braintree normally flowing ok then single car'way from braintree to marks tey then join A12 and off at next juction for stanway colcester then its only about 30mins from there.
just a note if you go past colchester zoo, the traffic can be quite bad trying to get in during school hols and if its a nice sunny day, builds up normally around 10am till 12pm
