I drive a vectra estate with a roof box and tow an Edre 142 trailer. I want to take 2 adult and 2 kids bikes on my next camping trip. The roof is obviously out as it accommodates the roof box, what should I do; 1) get bars on the trailer, 2) get a maxxraxx style tow bar mounted system or 3) get boot mounted straps, I would be grateful for your advice.......

if you get the tow bar mounted type remember that the maximum total load must not exceed the manufacturers limit or it can invalidate your insurance.

Carry them on your Erde 142 trailer it has 500 kg payload , that would be your best option

Our 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes weigh 64kgs plus whatever you attach them to, which doesn't leave much for trailer noseweight so I would put on the trailer and then put them on the roof if you want to take bikes on daytrip when not taking the trailer.

We have the erde 193 and the maxxraxx. We carry two bikes on the trailer and two on the maxxraxx. Four on the maxxraxx doesn't allow the trailer to turn fully, and I am not sure we could fit four bikes in the trailer. This combination means that we can then go somewhere with the bikes whilst on holiday without having to take the trailer too!
