Hi, we have a big twin axle and I want to be able to tow it as well as OH. I am booked onto a Caravan club course, have watched the ''Towing the Line'' video but just wondered if anyone had any other tips for me. It will only be to sites we know and have been to before, daytime so less traffic etc (leaving all the tricky bits to OH to tow to!!) It isnt the motorway/dual carriageway stuff that bothers me as it is a very stable tow, its the taking it through any towny/country parts that seems more intimidating.

only towed our twinnie once so far, no problem and managed to reverse it from the road to the drive which is a miracle in the limited space of our street.it is easier cos it doesnt turn as quick as a single axle. certainly felt more stable on the motorway and zero pitching on the towcar as well.does help when said vehicle weighs well over 2 tonne though .

i`ll still be bricking it next time out though because its the a169 pickering-whitby route,hole of horcum and all that !!!!

Thanks for that everyone - hopefully once I have done the manoevering course I will be happy to tow her. Getting out of the storage and onto the main road is the worst - the storage is so tightly packed with vans and not much room at the end of the rows!

There hasnt really been a reason for me to tow much - I only towed the sunstar (single axle) occasionally but now my work days have changed and it should mean I can go and set up on a Friday while OH is still at work.

Towcar wise we are fine as Daisy weighs in at 2 1/2 ton unladen so by the time we have all the stuff, me and the dogs in there she must be creeping towards the 3 ton mark...lol

Dont envy you the hole of horcum or the bit before - gave me heart failure just following OH towing along there.....and the fuel consumption was just as terrifying!

Watch the gross train weight if your licence is one of the new ones with limits on.

By the sound of it you're over the 3500kg limit for these licences.

Lol, I wish I was that young!! Licence is well pre 97 so I am fine - but thanks for that anyway
