We are looking at geting a new (year old or similar) tug for our caravan, a coachman 640 6 twin axle .

both cars have been recommended to us - we like both but are still unsure. We have three kids plus dog to take into consideration. We were looking at a manual diesel in both cases and the towing weights are both good for our caravan.

Your opinions, particularly from owners of these vehicles would be welcome!

Hi i tow with a sorento which would be perfect for you if you do rallies etc and need the 4x4 ,the down side is the loading capacity you need with 3 kids and dogs.

the sedona has a much better loading capacity not half as good on damp or wet grass and you would need to watch the noseweight carefully.

Comletely agree with Bandpg, It depends how you use it.,

If you need 4 x 4 to get off rally fields or some CL's than Sorrento maybe,If you usually go to sites etc than the sedonas space is fantastic

We have the Hyundai Trajet (similar to sedona) and love the room in it, I can get the dog cage in the boot and fit the coolbox plugged in and the pushchair no problems,

We go to a lot of CL's and have got stuck twice since getting rid of our 4X4 terrano we had before however there is usually a tractor or some kind soul with a 4x4 willing to help.

When our hyundai dies we will probably get the sedona to replace it, but the new shape version as the seats in the old ones have a weird layout ( 2, 2 then 3 in the boot) we prefer having 3 middle seats and the 2 other ones in the boot, Which they now do on the new ones.

I think if you need space in the car then the Sedona would be worth considering although I think its only got an 80kgs nose weight allowance against the Sorento of a minimum of 112kgs. I suspect of the two the Sorento would make the better all round towcar. I am a bit biased!

I tow with a 2005 XT Auto Sorento.

Tows like a dream, plenty of space in the boot for my 3 dogs (1 Large/2 Medium Sized), it has all the toys and I personally think looks the better of the two.  MPG not so hot at around 27.5mpg but then it is a big beast.

The Sedona may be a better bet with you having 3 kids ... give them a bit more space.
