Anyone tow with one of these? What's the consumption (towing and solo) and reliability like?  Five year warranty any good?

Looking for new "SUV" type vehicle to tow with following two Picasso clutch failures at 37K!   Van only 1280KG all up so not too heavy.  Also looked at Honda CRV & Rav4  - good but expensive.  Jeep Compass looks good - but is it up to the job?  Vauxhall Antara cheap as chips - but doesn't get great write ups. New Freelander - bit of an unknown yet?

Open to any suggestions please?

There are a few people on here with tucsons and they all rave abut them,

We don't have a tucson but do have a Hyundai (people carrier) and absolutely love it.

Also look at the kia sportage, its the same as the tucson.

Thanks gazmister - I've read through these and Tucson comes out well.

looking at the "Style" model which has reversing sensors - anyone know if these will interfere with a fixed towbar?  Phoned Indespension and they said they always recommend removable bars when reversing sensors are fitted - but they are a lot dearer!   Do I really need one?

Mine is a 2005 CRTD 5speed 113 hp.Reverse sensors no problem at all with towball, but wish I could switch them off when reversing with Van on !!
Have owned last two years.Very Reliable (tempting fate now)and comfortable car.Love it,but,I would not buy a black one again as it shows every mark.
Tows well, once turbo up to speed.
Solo MPG (full to full tank)Best 41.9 mpg,Worst 28.8 (traffic and aircon).Day to Day use gives 32/37.
Towing approx 1350 kg gives 26/28 mpg.Worst I have had was 24.
Original owner did not tow but said best he had was 39 mpg in france.
The long warranty is a two edged sword, main dealers, thin on the ground, charge the earth,30k service £190 (little more than an oil change),40k £420,(ALL fluids changed).
Cam belt not due until 70k,hate to think of that bill.
The Models from 2006 have better engines and 6 gears.KIA Sportage also improved.

I got a year old 113 bhp Tucson and love it. Recently got my window screen wiper motor replaced under warranty even though I got it off non franchised dealer (car was one owner with very full service record). TWG Hyundai at Northwich were very helpfully and no problems with Hyundai. Still got warranty to December. Car is solid and well built. They don't have a big "footprint", infact mine is slightly smaller than latest Ford Focus hatchback (length & width).

Thanks kerrysdad and pikerwoods.  Actually a near new ex demo I'm looking at so engine should be slightly better and more economical then. (148BHP now I believe?)  It is black though...!  My wife said it's a crazy colour to get and it'll be hellish to keep clean - but it does look good in black!  I told her it'll give her something to do on Sunday mornings.....!

Thanks again guys.
