Lovely looking car butwhere does it mention the weights?

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Page 6.
"The ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) is supplied with a TSA (Trailer Stability Assistant), due to which the Superb Combi acquires the best characteristics to pull even heavier caravans (up to 2,000 kg). The TSA is able to reduce the tendency toward side sways or oscillations that may occur under diffi cult driving conditions."
Ah so no vehicle weights, my Mondeo will supposedly pull 1800kg but it only weighs in at 1496kg so as far as I am concerned the absolute max towing weight is 1496kg. Mind you I would be interested in seeing the actual vehicle stats for that superb it looks a really nice car.

Those of you who know me, know I'm a big fan of Skodas. But it was with a heavy heart we very recently decided to have a VW Passat Estate when our current car dies or we get a newer van, due to needing combo of economical & reliable commute car plus can tow up to 1500kg (future proofing for newer, heavier van). We even commented at the time, what a shame the Superb is not available as an Estate.
Our current car (8+ years old, owned from new, 140k+) is a right hand drive EU import - 'tho it almost didn't happen to due VWAG's silly games at the time - so getting another import wouldn't be a problem.
We got it for 11.5k from Holland when it was retailing at over 15k here, and although it's a 2001 plate, on the few occasions we've needed parts, we've had to go for 2002 parts if different as the EU cars had newer spec compared to the UK ones.
How have you find the price of parts when required for the skoda? Its a car I'm looking at for upgrading too. My dad had a skoda many moons ago when they were built by the chezcs.Skoda estelle on a k reg that was when the k was the last letter! He used to pack it to the max under the seats front boot and trailer and family of 5 from bristol to barmouth! Only once did it let him down when a water hose burst.
We had a Skoda Octavia (Chezc) while in cyprus in 1963. It would have made a superb (er - no pun intended...) towcar from the weight viewpoint as it was built like a tank, but engine-wise sadly would not have pulled the skin off a rice pudding. But it was a nice car, good paint finish and comfortable. Seperate chassis and body panels so strong - one day on the way back home to Limassol on the back road I played chicken with a Fiat 1300 and won - when I got home there was an area on the front wing bulge where the paint had come off; didn't even dent the metal. The bang was like a b**b going off. I saw the Fiat the next day and every panel on the driver's side was creased right down the side of the car. (the ** are cos I'm at work and our PCs are set a bit sensitive to such words)
Sorry - O/T. I would love a Skoda Superb - surely they are available in estate? Wow - 170BHP - that would put our Rover to shame (only 113BHP - tows the Whirlwind sort of Ok though) One day maybe....
