We picked up our first ever caravan yesterday and towed it 150 miles home OK (I even reversed it into the storage site on my own - I'm a natural, I am...).
However, there did seem to be a bit of 'surging' from the caravan, especially on rough surfaces. Never felt dangerous in any way but I keep reading about people saying they don't even notice the van on the back and I certainly could.
Neither the van or car was loaded, I didn't check any tyre pressures (sorry, I forgot - there was just too much to take in ) and my noseweight gauge hasn't arrived yet so not sure what that was (but no gas bottle yet and 'van was very slightly down at the nose, which I believe is right?).
Also, even though I sand-papered the coating off the new Alko towball ('van has Alko stabiliser), I didn't clean it with anything - would that make any difference?
