I joined ages ago for some tent camping advice but we have now decided we want the comfort of a caravan!

We are about to buy the Bailey Pegasus 546.
We saw a Ford Mondeo estate today which we liked, anyone use one to tow?

So really any advice from people who have been there and done it please! Your top tent tips / ferry crossing costings (can't get them on website right now) / best places to visit in a caravan etc etc.

I live in Surrey and am married with twin boys.

Any help AT ALL would be hugely appreciated, thank you x

Amanda

Hi Chomper7.

Wow - the new Bailey Pegasus 17.  I'm afraid I can't help re: tow cars as hubby tows the 'van and we have a Jeep Cherokee.  The main thing to remember is not to exceed an 85% match.  I think if you go onto Towsure's website you can put in the make and year of car and the caravan and it works out the match for you 17

There are so many fab places in the UK to visit in a caravan - it depends on what you want really.  I don't know the Surrey or surrounding area but some of our fav sites inc East Fleet Farm nr Weymouth and Sandy Balls in the New Forest.

I'm sure someone will be able to help depending on what you want and the area etc.

Good luck with the new 'van - we love our Bailey Senator 17

Welcome to UKCS and welcome to the wonderful world of caravans.  Whatever tow car you choose, check the suitability out.  It is really a durch site, I think, but try the following: http://www.whattowcar.com/  I'm sure you will be the envy of many on here withe a Pegasus.  Best of luck and well done.

If the Pegasus isn't showing on the whattowcar site then have a look on the Bailey website for similar layout/weights/length as the Pegasus and if you need any technical spec on the Mondeo i find Autotrader online gives you some idea's of weight etc.

Have you seen the pegasus yet?  It will be coming to our dealer this week so i'll probably go and take a look but from the pictures i've seen the 6 berth is almost identical in layout to mine apart from the bathroom which appears a much better layout.

I don't know what dealer you will buy from but make sure you get a starter pack thrown in.  Our local dealer doesn't offer a starter pack but when we asked for one he was more than happy to help.  I used the starter pack that we'd seen advertised at White Arches, Northampton as my template and then dh got him to throw in the outside plug socket, campinggas bbq, couple of chairs in with it lol.

Hope you don't mind me asking but what made you pick the pegasus and not the paegeant or Ranger?

When will you place your order and how long will it take till you can collect her?

Oh and btw welcome to the world of caravanning lol
