hi neil

thanks for the reply and ive just been on the companys web site and the info is again differant to the form they printed off for the car and van match.

on their site the van is now user payload=201, unladen=1149kg and mtplw=1350kg.

but i still cannot find the correct kerb for my car as yet but autocar.co.uk say my its 1391kg.

this is getting worst.

cheers dave

If you are a member of either of the C&CC or the C.C they both do a free car / caravan compatibility service

Dave give the C.C a call with your details they may be able to help even if your a non - member just make sure you have the exact details of your Focus and the year of the Bailey Pageant

Dave - without going into great detail on the weights - as you can see from my profile to the left we tow with a Zafira. It's a bigger car than your Focus, and I know we can't tow a Bailey Pageant Champagne, as it's too heavy for an 85% match.

Why the Bailey Pageant? Why not have a look at lighter vans if you're tied to the Focus? We chose a lighter van as we couldn't afford to change the car - it worked for us.

Dave, when I was looking for my first van I used www.whattowcar.com to ensure the outfit matched well.  Use this to qualify any van you like the look of and ensure it is within the 85% recommended limit.

Cheers,

D

Hi all
thanks for your replies it's just that the other half has only been in some second hand baileys and realy liked the set up of the pageant champagne as it's got the big end shower,wc etc. So we haven't realy seen any others as yet so any ideas for a lighter van but same layout.
Cheers dave

Dave if you look for a Bailey ranger with the same layout they are lighter than the equivalent Pageant and would be more suited to your Focus

i never did any practical towing course before i started but i did listen to a shedload of advice from the guys on here regarding loading the van and i admit i'm pedantic about tyre pressures and loading. the main thing is to give yourself plenty of space when turning and take it easy. i admit i didnt enjoy towing at 1st but it all comes together and if the rig feels right then it is right. i can reverse but i am crap so i will do a trailer reversing course at knockhill next year

think the best way is to roll up the sleeves and get on with it. i admit before i set off on a trip the nerves are there a bit but after my 5 mile checkpoint to ensure the rig is sound i am fine

Hi all
Things didn't turn out as planned and never got round to getting a caravan but now we are ready to get one.
I have now got a 2.5 sorento auto and looking at getting a 2007 bailey senator Arizona (4 berth). So hopefully the setup is a good match.

So we are thinking of doing the caravan towing course now. Can anyone recommend a company around leicester.
Cheers
Dave
