 HI all, I,m thinking of a volvo v70 2.0 diesel as my next towcar caravan is 1400kg

MPTLM so is well within the max tow of the volvo,what do you think of this combo?

has any owner have exp. of good/bad points any info most welcome.thank you.

Never had one myself but would love one. I have spoken to others who have not had a bad word to say.

The police use them extensively in super fast form to carry their sandwiches around in so they cannot be bad. (the car - not the police!)

Forget the max tow limit, if you were to tow the 1800kg  that they say is the maximum tow limit you would be towing far more than the kerbweight of the car. The V70 is a fine towcar and would be a superb match for a MTPLM 1400kg caravan

The towing limit for the V70 2.0 diesel is 1600 kgs.

It is 1800 kgs. for the 2.4 litre 5 cylinder engine.

Depends on the year you are looking at, the kerb weight ranges vary massively from 1400 kg upwards.

Guidelines are 85% of kerb weight but these vehicles have a max tow in excess of the kerb weight in most cases.  Personally I would not exceed the kerb weight.

one as a towcar as to any good/bad points like towing mpg etc Ive been a shed

 dragger for 17+ yrs now so know all about 85% etc sorry if some of you got the wrong end of the stick . 

Hi Jim, I had the S60, same engine as the V70 and had no problems towing an Argente 540/4. The engines are bullet proof and have plenty of power and if looked after will last for ever. Mine had 83,000miles on it and the first thing I did was get the timing belt changed even though it wasn't due until 95000, for piece of mind really. Always wanted the V70 but ones I looked at when I was buying were out of my budget unfortunately.

Look on the Volvo owners forum, google it, and you will get all the info you need. Volvos are built like a tank as I found out when some little sc****g decided to dance all over mine last summer. Despite the footprints on the bonnet, roof and boot there was only slight damage to the roof. Other cars would have buckled under the weight of this guys antics.
