I have just purchased a new car but need a towbar fitted to it. Can anyone recommend a local company to me (Chester le Street). I have been quoted £244 by a online company. thanks

We have used Stanley towbars which is just by the railway station in Chester Le Street. We Paid £190 in May 2006 for a towbar and twin electrics for our Vectra Estate.

try www.towequipe.co.uk they will quote you on line and arrange for a local fitter to come to you. i'm not sure how competative this service is as i always fit my own. but there d i y prices are very good

I am also in Chester Le Street (near Ropery Lane)
I have had all my bars put on at Hedley Towbars, near Tesco at Durham:
Hedley Towbars clicky !!
They are a great bunch of lads and do a prompt great service, plus while it is being done you can nip to Tesco for a cupa to pass the time away !
Personally I can't speak highly enough of them.
Stanley Towbars were always more expensive and every time I go in they seem to be a bit clueless on prices and spec's.

Google your local Indespension centre, they are a national company, and were far cheaper than many when we had our towbar fitted last July, they give excellent after service too, popped in with a blown fuse a couple of weeks ago due to a fault on the vans electrics and they did it there and then for free.
