Just into our 3rd year caravaning and last year I bought an 1999 Abbey county stafford 5berth which I love, but it does not have a stabiliser fitted, I would be quite experienced at towing and so far have had no scares with the caravan snaking etc as I know how to load the van, but for the extra peace of mind would consider getting a stabiliser but cant afford to buy new and especially for an 11 year old van.
I have been looking on ebay but not sure what make, model and size I need to fit my van.
Any info would be really appreciated and if you have or know where I could get a 2nd hand one that would be great also.
We use a Bulldog major leaf type stabiliser and are quite happy with it, there not too expensive to buy new, and it maybe false economy to buy secondhand incase there are any problems with the mechanism which you may not be aware of by inspection alone. We were unfortunate enough to suffer an accident with one of our old caravans and were advised by the insurance company to replace the stabiliser due to possible damage caused to it by the impact as a safety measure, depite it looking fine on inspection.

Hi - I have a Scott stabiliser - leaf spring type, needs a couple of bolts & a vehicle mounting plate. Cluttering up my workshop for years but too good to dump. Yours if you want it - just let me know. Denis
