I had the last model civic for 3.5 years (1.7 diesel. bought 1 year old.)

Had a battery replaced and a minor electrical fault (loose connection on doorlock) all fixed under warranty, no other problems.

Only sold it to buy our Renault Cabriolet, which we bought new . Before the "french cars are c*** brigade" chip in! We now have had three trouble free years!

Obviously it is not a towcar, but lovely on sunny days and for general run around, my go to work car!

A colleague has an old style CRV petrol, W reg over 100K trouble free!

We tried the new CRV diesel but were not over impressed, notchy gearchange and did not say "buy me!"

I actually preferred the Freelander to drive, but we got our first Sorento as it was better value. Also tried a Volvo XC60, which was superb but a lot of cash!!

Now have a 3 month old Titan which was a superb deal and has 3 years warranty so we are happy!

A seven year warranty with the Kia - you'll probably need it, with the Honda, you almost definately won't.

Oh - and buying the CRV will keep 10,000 British jobs going, with the Kia - it won't...

you would probably say the same on a VW as well, but i shall never buy another one based on the experience of my current car

It was a tossup between the Sportageand the CR-V when I was looking to change. Had a drive in the Sportage for a few hours was impressed by it's pulling power, but I felt every bump and heard it, the CR-V felt a lot better and a softer ride. I went for the CR-V with Honda having won top marks for reliability the last few years. So far it's been back at dealers three times for warranty work  and the more I drive it the more the seats get uncomfortable. It does tow great though.
