We swapped our Mondeo TDCi for a Vectra Sri 150 Estate. a decision we never regretted. Mondeo`s are OK but too soft for towing, unreliable and worst of all Ford dealers dont know how to fix them. The Vectra is a better towcar and in fact I put a sticker on the dash to remind me I`m towing cos the car hardly seems to notice.
We live in the Welsh Mountains so I suppose a Mondeo might be alright for a bit of Lincolnshire but if you need guts and handling the Mondeo is outclassed completely by the Vectra.
And before the Mondeo fanatics start to moan and wail which always seems to happen here this is based on 30 years of towing in everything from a Vauxhall Victor, through a Volvo 240, landrover Disco, Mondeo and now the Vectra which made it over the Alps last year not through the tunnel. The Mondeo would have died of asphicsiation half way up.
