We're currently selling our van (Bailey Ranger 470/4, 1998) and I've been asked this morning what the towing weight is. I have no idea, or don't know where to look, so any ideas would be appreciated.
Do you have a handbook for the the caravan? it should quote the weight empty & weight fully loaded. A later version of your caravan quotes 967kg empty weight & 1179kg max loaded weight, this is the weight your potential buyer will wish to know.
HI, thanks, I can find everything except the handbook (always the way). The little plate by the door is very faint, but I think it says M.A.D. 11kg (but it might be 14kg!!). Should that be (maybe) 1100kg empty weight, 1400 max loaded weight ??
It'll be the MTPLM they are after. Plate by the door should say what that is. If you can't read that then it may also be stamped on the A frame. Up to 1998 it was called the MGW - Maximum Gross Weight (fully laden that is). They need to know so that they will know whether their car can pull it.
You can always call Towsafe on 01722 411430 or e mail at towsafe at hpi.co.uk which can provide you with the exact MTPLM for the Van
