I would go for the sportage. The new one looks a lot better than the old one and the new 7 year warranty is not to be sniffed at either.

Luluroxy.

The Kerb weight of the Volvo is 1404 kgs so you can probably eliminate this one from the list, as it is not a good match.

Kerb weight of the Qashqai is 1590 kgs so the match is above the recommended 85% ratio. However the engine is the most powerful of the group.

Kerb weight of the sportage is 1748 kgs, so well within the recommended weight ratio. It is also several thousand pounds cheaper than the rest and has a 7 year warranty against the others which have 3 year warranties.

If you go onto the whatcar web site, you can compare up to 3 vehicles at one time. This gives all the data including economy, depreciation etc. Remember also that the vehicle you chose will probably spend more time without the van attached, so there will need to be a compromise in both areas.

Both the Sportage and the Hyundai Tuscan, which are basically the same car, are been replaced this year. If you shop round their may be some good deals around.

I have the sorento and it's a fantastic tow car but have test drove the sportage and it is very nice, it has a good towing weight aswell so I'd pick the sportage out of your shortlist.

Also look at after sales and warranties, KIA are fantastic at sorting any problems out, there's no quibbling. I had a small fault that could have been argued that it was ware and tare but they sorted it and footed the bill too.

Best advice really is to test drive them, I'm sure that'd help in your decision.

Nissan Qashqai only can tow 1400kg max so not suitable for a van with 1480kg mptlm

These days the cost of ownership (repair/service) of diesel engine car with diesel particulate filter (DPF) can be considerable.  If you do not use it regularly for long jounrneys you may be it may be expensive.

Answer to that is dont drive it like a Sunday driver, then you will have no problems with the DPF dont be afraid to give it some rev-es
