Apologies if this is a recurring question.

Looking to get my first tow bar fitted, but like everything else to do with caravanning, I'm being baffled by the choice.

Our outfit = Ford Galaxy (2009) / Coachman Amara 560/6 (1575Kg).

Any advice on what to look for (fixed / detachable / retractable / swan neck etc.), and what kind of prices am I looking at?

Detatchable is just for neatness & obviously more expensive. If you are going for fixed, swan neck looks neater imho.

If you have parking sensors a removeable one will be a better option, No risk of them getting false readings from a fixed bar.

Its basically down to what you want it to look like and how much you are willing to pay. They all do the same job.

Ask how they are wiring it, IE splicing in (a No No!), spicing in and a bypass relay or wiring kit... expensive but foolproof, then ask what wiring/supply for the fridge etc, you should be able to get away with the power to the rear socket.
