I've never towed a caravan before, so this season is going to be a big learning curve.

Initially, (probably for this Summer), I'll only be moving it from its storage to our favourite campsite (3-4 miles) and back. 

Would anyone recommend I take a couple of hours tuition at a towing course, and if so, do you know of any in South Wales? Or will I be ok with a bit of common sense?

If you are not too confident then yes take some lessons. There are many driving instructors about that do towing lessons.Look in your local directories or google. Alternatively the 2 clubs do caravan specific towing courses.

Money well spent in my view. No doubt others will be along soon to disagree.

A couple of lessons wont do any harm. But what you need is experience. Would it be possible to collect the van from storage early on a Sunday morning when the roads are quiet and go for a drive. Go to a quiet carpark and try some reversing into the a parking space and get the feel for the outfit. This is what I did with my brother when he was starting out. He soon got the hang of it.

If the basics are there maybe not a course but a friend who tows a caravan??? the club courses are highly recommended by others.

If you don't fancy a course just take it easy and remember its on the back!! putting towing mirrors on the car helps judge the width, aswell as being a requirement to see behind! reversing is best practised on an empty car park! take tight corners a bit wider, you'll soon be touring the country!
