Hi all, been towing caravan for six months, but previously towed trailers, just recently have noticed suspension sitting lower than usual when under load. Car is a 53 Mondeo TDCI estate 2ltr. Caravan is a Fleetwood Garland 165/5 1994.Considering upgrading the coil springs to reinforced springs. Would anyone give suggestions or advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Extra few kg in the boot & a bit more noseweight makes a big difference.

Maybe your springs are a bit tired, I am thinking the same. Recently bought a mondeo diesel estate & already replaced the front springs, Now thinking replace the rear ones & will it be firmer.

Reinforced springs? have you seen these advertised somewhere or do you mean the rubber rings that stop the springs compressing fully?

Friends of mine have just had donuts fitted with new rear springs for the same problem.

Caravan was riding very low until then.

Hi

53 plate mondeo estate should have self leveling suspension. If it does not then you should think sbout upgrading.

Hi Folk's Thinking about changing my tow car, at present i have an omega 2.5 turbo diesel estate auto with a bmw 6 cylinder engine. It's getting a bit long in the tooth now. I'm looking for something about 2 litres, diesel estate, with a 4x4 automatic gearbox. Something around 160/170 bhp would suit, any suggestion's or info on such a beast would greatly appreciated.

    regard's biker mike.

Only the high spec cars had them as standard, Or an extra option.

But at £200-£300 for a single shock i would rather get a decent set of springs & shocks & save half the money.

Just put some new springs in. Estate cars tend to have a longer overhang so will sag a bit more.
