just had our van serviced, and we need to have new tyres fitted as they are 6 years old, our tyres are 205/70/R14 95T Radial steel tubeless.

 Is this a weird size our mobile guy says they are quiet big for a caravan as hes never come across this size before as he mainly works on british vans, ours is an adria 502 uk 2004,

 has any body any ideas where to source this size and rough cost, as ive only found 1 tyre matching and ive never heard of the make before.

You can change to 185x14C commercial van tyres, virtually the same diameter as your existing tyres & readily availble in various makes from premium to budget.

have a look at www.mytyres.co.uk they list 8 tyres of that size from a little under £40 each to over £180 each...

The size 205/70R14C 102S is available in Pirelli Chrono, this is a premium commercial van tyre. Expensive but the one to go for if you are doing fast motorway mileage. The size you state is actually a car tyre, I wouldn't have thought the load rating would be enough for a caravan unless very light. The size is actually easily available in car tyres but its normal to use van tyres on medium/large caravans.

Thats wots confusing me they seem to be car tyres, the caravan is really light for its size 1300kgs max.

If the manufacturer specifies car tyres then I guess its ok to use them, but I would stick premium or mid range brands(ie all the familiar names) It depends what you are going to do with the caravan. If you are going to be doing long motorway trips I would fit van tyres of a premium brand, either the same size or the 185x14C size which I would have thought would be ok, but possibly check with Adria.

The 95T tyres are rated at up to 690kg each so a combined axle weight of 1380kg is acceptable, so with a van with a MTPLM of 1300kg the 95T tyres are fine.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
