We have a 2008 model Adria Altea 542UK & we have towed it for the last year in Yorkshire without a stabiliser fitted as we wanted to get a feel for the van/car together.
Later this year we are going to Edinburgh for the Tattoo & as we haven't towed as far with the van, we thought it might be a good idea to get a stabiliser.
Has anyone fitted a stabilser to their Adria, or recommendations on good stabilser would be appreciated. Wauby's sell a Bulldog stabiliser which looks interesting but I haven't done any research yet.
Many thanks

------------- You can take the girl oota Scotland, but you cannie take Scotland oota the girl!
You can just unbolt standard hitch, 2 bolts & replace with an Alko stabiliser hitch. Costs about £200 odd but a much neater solution on a caravan that new than using a blade stabiliser.
Oh...you risk a right can of worms here. Our old van' was a lot lighter/smaller than our current. Was totally happy with the blade type stabiliser. Very little movement. New van' has an Aalko 1300, again very stable but not as stable as the old one. That said, I've towed both vans' without ther respective stabilisers & the only difference was the reduction in up/down movement with the older blade type.
Tempted to try the Blade on the new van' but worried about the warranty on the chassis in drilling for the mount.

I was under the impression it's strongly recommended NOT to drill the chassis regardless of warranty on the van, due to un-necessary weakening of the galvanised finish etc. The leaf type stabilisers are usually supplied with (or available as an option, model dependant) a clamp on bracket to prevent any drilling.
Back to Op's post though, if the van tows well why do you feel a need for a stabiliser just for going a bit further. Surely if the rig's stable 20 mile up the road, there's no reason why it won't be on the roads of Scotland.
If you do go down the stabiliser route though, Waudby's offer about the best deal on the Alko, here
