Does anyone know if towing with a soft top has any other problems than towing with a normal car.

Never done it but looked into it before now. Some are not type approved for towing so it would need checking out for your chosen model.

I would imagine that it will feel a little more twitchy as the body is not as stiff but James May and Oz Clark managed ok with a Rolls Corniche!!!

Provided car is approved for towing you will have no problems. If it ain't approved for towing a towbar will not be available for it.

one open top did turn over last week by magor on m4 ,the van stayed upright,dont know if anyone was hurt,i dont think it would be wise myself to tow with open top.

I don't see there being any problems, afterall, Farmers on Tractors have been doing it for decades.

We towed a TT all over the UK and Ireland with an 1962 open topped Morris Minor.

remo, one more thing to check out if the open top car is approved for towing is to google some reviews on "scuttle" shake and choose a model which does not exhibit it. Even some prestige models get the shakes especially under load due to lower stiffness of the car body. It's horrible when it happens. Something to avoid. Like most things some designs show it more than others. Even my old Fiat X19 did it at times (not towing with it though!) Towing with an open top sounds like a very pleasant thing to do .Go for it!Hope this helps.

If its type approved for towing I don't see a problem. They don't just cut the top off like a boiled egg to make a convertible. The chassis is stiffened and the car is often heavier that the tin top.

We have a Saab 93 convertible, are considering fitting a tow bar as they are good solid cars. Seen one or two towing.

i have seen a saab covertable towing a caravan, can't really see a problem with it

I have towed with a bmw 325 soft top for the last year - no probs and great to have a convertible while on holiday. Go for it!
