I had the same problem no7 pin getting hot and melting the plastic, so what i did on the male caravan plug was connect pin 6 and pin 2 that gives you 2 live feeds and connect pin 7 and pin 5 and that gives you 2 earths, had no problem since, the only thing is when it goes for service you must tell them how you have it wired, or it will blow the fuse on the box of tricks they use to check your electrics with.
