My Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi is coming to its last legs, I have a twin axle Sterling Trekker, and was told that I must have a 4x4, however the Galaxy pulled the van no problem, obviously the 4x4 wpould speak for itself but I seemed to have managed ok, I have my eye on a Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 petrol but with an LPG conversion which makes plenty of sense for the economy for work and everyday life, the cars are extremely well equiped with bags of space for my work commitments and are comfortable, Has anybody had any experience using them for towing. They have a higher BHP than the Galaxy so plenty of power there.
Thanks for your tips
Karl.

don't do it!
the voyager is a hateful thing, not very reliable, terrible on fuel and hideously expensive to service/repair, on top of all that they have all the crash resistance of a 1970's Cortina.
there are better cars out there without buying a 4x4.

The voyager is an excellent vehicle but, sorry, never towed with one. I suspect it would be rather good.

They look nice, i'm a gadget type girl and that has lots of them :). But just out of interest why petrol and not diesel? Diesel 36.7mpg combined, Petrol 23.2mpg combined. Got that off Autotrader which doesn't have a towing mpg so just look at the combined urban and extra urban mpg.

Hi
had an 52reg Diesel for 5 years, a very good tow car but has a max tow limit of 1600kg.

Hi, Have towed 1500 kg vans with a 2.4 petrol Voyager for the last 6 years, it's a dream, best tip, remove the "middle" seats and put all weight between the car axles, awning etc. Absolutley stable at 80+ mph. No stabilisers or other cobblers necessary.
If you are towing at 80+ I hope you get booked before you cause a crash!

This does not answer your question but in support of your choices, I have experience with LPG vehicles and it has all been positive. There are massive savings to be made, especially if you shop around locally and fill up at the best price. Wishing you well!
