we tow  our twin with a large supercharged petrol  v8 ,effotless and 18mpg,ive run large diesel 4x4`s in the past and only got 17mpg,lpg is fine if it`s done right.

again its down to personal choice.

If you're going for a 10 year old car, look at 4x4s also as the road tax will be cheaper compared to the same modfel but a couple fo years newer.

Also, if looking at petrol consider either converting one yourself to LPG or get one ready converted. Just make sure the LPG tank is at least 80L total capacity, which means you can fill up with up to 64L of LPG (80%), and also that the petrol tank is of a reasonable capacity.

Often when they get converted the petrol tank is replaced with a smaller one to make room for the LPG tank. But I know of some wher the petrol tank was less than 20L which doesn't give you a lot of back up.

We have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an 80L LPG tank and a 60L petrol tank. LPG is about £35 for 60L and gives us about 200 miles of mainly dual carriageway/motorway commuter driving solo. Not yet towed with her, but hoping to get at least 150 miles when towing a 1200kg van.

More info LPG cars, drive lpg and Go Autogas. The last one is also good for checking out where LPG filling stations are. We also use petrolprices.com for cheapest LPG in the area.

Torque= pulling power... or that will climb a cliff face feeling!! most modern turbo diesels will produce max torque at 1800 to 2500 rpm, in comparison most 16valve petrols will produce max torque above 3500rpm with many at around 5500rpm or higher!

A lot of diesels (mondeo etc) will produce 300Nm of torque or more, only large petrols will match this.

What you really need is an Audi Q7 4.2tdi !! this will pull the A frame off the van!!!
