Its supposed to with a trailer on, and not when driving without.... the law!... but you can have a light instead if its possible with your system.

So I guess I'm lucky then. Couldn't stand the beeper when we had the Focus - instantly disabled it & fitted a light. (some years ago, we had a Cav & the local towbar fitter said "buzzer is the norm now" F-that I thought - the Cav had a dedicated light in the inst panel so I simply fitted a relay with the C2 and Bingo - trailer W/L working fine.
Our recently acquired Saab is great - no W/L or buzzer necessary - if the trailer light is not working, the indicators flash quicker (as demonstrated when we picked our new van up today - one of the 'van indicators was not working!!)

Some cars have a warning light on the dash which is activeated when a different falsher unit is fitted (4 pin instead of 3 I think).

Certainly was on Vauxhall Frontera, I beleive also on Sorentos, although ours has a buzzer.

Yep Dave - seems the Vauxhall brand is 'towing-friendly' as all one has to do is plug the alternative relay straight in and the C2 terminal operates the w/l in the panel with the towball symbol. On the Rover 45 we had, this type of relay would not fit straight in so I used slave leads and popped a w/l in a spare switch blank. Simples (sorry Alexander...)

A man goes to the doctor with a steering wheel in his underpants.
"How did that happen?" asks the doc
"I don't know," says the man, "but it's driving me nuts!"

(with apologies to Peter Kay)

You can't remove the bleeper (unless you replace with a light) but you can muffle it.

Thanks everyone.  Lots of tape, some bubble wrap and a good dod of scrunched up news paper has made it almost inaudible to our ears.  Hopefully she'll chill out a bit now that its not so sharp a sound.
