Hope you guys can help!

 

I need a new car quickly! I have seen a low mileage Ford Focus that I like the look of, but it is only a 1.4 cl. Does anyone know if it will be powerful enough to tow a 5ft x 3ft trailer full of camping gear, without being sluggish?

I was on a CL last summer where a couple had a 1.4L Focus and they towed a Lunar meteor caravan with it with no problems at all. A trailer is easier there is much less wind resistance so you should have no problems.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

hi

I towed a folding camper 550kg with some gear in it with a 1.2 clio. which was slightly slow on the hills. I then used my 1.4 306 and you wouldnt know it was there.

Trailers are easy to tow as there is very little wind resistance, but remember to load it so that it is sligtly noise heavy, but check trailer for noise weight.
