This new car from Hyundai looks value for money.. 2L Deisel 130 BHP £16.5K new lots less than a VW model. Also i think you get 5 year warrenty

Has anybody got any comments or has towed with one yet?

Is the engine as good as a VW engine?

If you go to hyundai's web site you can compare the cars and yes it does come a Free 5 year unlimted warranty.

Also i Think the caravan club april Mag voted it the best tow car in its class not sure though as it only came out in March.

The engine i think is the old Santa FE engine so it would be better.

That looks like a really promising car but 2 issues:

1. No auto available (yet - probably a year or 2 down the line).

2. Towing limit is 2000kg but only a kerbweight of 1500kg?  I know that sometimes the max tow weight is more than the kerbweight but I thought that was only for some larger commercial vehicles? Would you want to tow at 133% ratio?

The 2.0 litre Diesel models have the following  kerbweights

2 Wheel Drive 1,610 kg

4 Wheel Drive 1,679 kg

Noseweight 80 kg

Tow limit 2,000 kg

Each to their own I say,congratulations to Mitsubishi if they have produced a 4x4 SUV that does 80mpg no point in buying a hybrid or Polo bluemotion now !

As to the driving experience of the Ix35 I cant disagree more.I find the handling fluid and comfortable,I traded in a VW Touran 2.0Tdi sport I had owned for 5 years from new and the driving experience is very similar,unless you are really chucking savagely into bends (bit daft in an SUV anyway !) The steering is light, but again,what difference does that make to the average SUV driver.

The 4 x 4 system is the same as the More expensive Santa Fe it is an "On Demand" system which means for economy it runs on normal roads in 2wd UNTIL it detects slippage where it very quickly kicks in 4wd.I tried it out by facing the car up a steep wet grass slope and stomping on the throttle from a standstill ! the car took off like a rocket up the slope whithout ANY slippage !

Freeatlast has got the wrong end of the stick,the 4 x 4 works at ANY speed ,you are only limited to 25mph when the 4x4 lock is on,presumably because the lock also limits the diff which could be dangerous at speed ?

The hill descent and the hill start systems work well too !

Im getting 30 mpg driving to work through the City of Sheffield and driving to the coast to our caravan in Whitby at motorway speeds returns 45mpg.down on Hyundai,s claims but good for a 1700kg SUV.

Im not brand loyal in fact I tend to switch make of car each time I buy a new car ! but this car from Hyundai is very good-but hey,who knows I may get bored and buy a new Mitsu ASX next time ! !
