Hi as David said remove orignal handle and keep safe, and use shorter detachable Alko handle , I use this set up on my Freelander.

yes we have the shortened handle too, another cost we hadnt anticipated but we didnt fancy taking the back wheel off every time  Think we bought it online, saved us a few pennies!

Had 3 Freelanders and never had to take handle off, just make sure the lever is fully up before hitching or unhitching.
