You'll need to locate the wiring under the bonnet, usually a thickish red wire with an inline fuse attached to the pos side of the battery. The relay is about the size of a match box.
The switching to battery charge and fridge supply only takes place when the relay detects a load, it can take upto a minute with the engine running before the relay activates.
