I had a 2007 Sportage. Towed a Conway Cruiser folding camper (750gk approx). The car laughed at this little trailer! Then we swapped the Conway for a Sterling Europa 540 (1500kg max). Still towed ok, but i was always busy changing gear, plus as already mentiond it had (from memory) 75kg max towball weight - not ideal for this new van! I had the 137bhp (again from memory) diesel - earlier ones were less powerful. As long as you are ok changing gear a fair bit you will enjoy one of these mini 4wd bargains. Maybe consider its bigger brother, the 'old school' Sorento. Not quite so good on diesel but a better 4wd all round. Not a better car, but better off road, better equipped, much more interior space, tougher mechanicals, less gear changing towing, bigger towball weight of 150kg, and much bigger max towing trailer weight (3000kg for a manual). Bad bits - bit big feeling round town, rolls in corners at high speed (no sports car but no surprise there), uses more fuel, a bit like a luxury tracto to drive. Both are good and both are cheap. Sportage better than a mondeo (had 2 of those ver the years - great solo but not so great for towing as fwd), cheaper to run than a larger 4wd but a bit less capable too. Test many cars and buy the one that suits you best!
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
