Never yet trumpted about my Octavia being a Passat in drag thanks! Just our opinion. I love my Skoda for what it is and wouldn't want it to be a VW they cost too much.

Definitely not Golf size, parked next to a Passat estate we struggle to see the difference. Also has the Audi Haldex 4x4 system on.

The 4x4 Octavia diesel Estate has a higher towing weight (1600kgs) than than the standard Diesel Estate also has a Higher kerbweight but there's not so many about , I looked for a low mileage second hand one couldn't find any there as rare as hens teeth

We have an Octavia Estate, 1.9tdi and an Elddis Wisp 450 EB, a perfect combination, did Cornwall no problem! There are plenty of vans out there to suit the Octavia. Just remember it is as big as the Cavalier/Sierras were in the 1980s!

You should find a van to suit you somewhere. Just remember look at the fully laden weight sticker on the van, if it is over your 1385kg, just do not buy it!

-------------
Just remember, if it is older than yours, smaller than yours but next to yours, there is probably no credit owing on it...

I quite fancied one of the estates till I saw that there was a lip in the boot that you had to lift everything over instead of sliding straight out.
Who's bright idea was that?????
A second boot floor to level things out is available for around £100.  Standard on the Laurent and Klement model.

So you have to lose space and pay extra to get what should have been there to start with.

We were really lucky when we dropped on ours, the local Skoda garage keep stalking me to buy it!! It had 32000 miles at 3 years old and a towbar and electrics fitted, was obviously meant to be and I'm so glad

You can remove the false floor if you require that bit extra room it just lifts out, then your left with a 4 inch lip

The Octavia is built on the golf 5 platform as is the Seat Almera and Audi A4

I have the loan of an Octavia -  brand spanking new. It seems to go like stink and has a 6 speed gear box that takes a lot of getting used to; very easy to miss a gear and end up with a gear ratio you don't want: That's my fault, not the cars.

The overall feel is very "plasticy" although it seems well put together

Woudl I change my Audi for one? No

Neither would I - and yes I have driven one.

Yep, another happy Octavia owner here.

Ours is a Y reg 1.9 tdi elegance estate. Had from new at £11.5k as an imported RH drive. Done over 165,000 miles and towed with it for over 3 years. We have a twin axle 1991 ABI Tristar, 4 berth, with MTPLM of 1275kg. These vans were top spec in their day, all wood cupboards, oven with 4 burner rings and a Thetford loo.

We drive about 60 miles a day, so need a car that can tow and be frugal with the fuel when solo. We average 55 mpg solo, and 35 mpg towing.

The false floor is excellent, good for tucking away things you want to keep in the car but don't need/want to see every day e.g. tools or the kites (you never know when the weather's going to be right).

Also road tax is only £120 a year, insurance just over £200, mot time so far hasn't been scary, and it's great at getting away at the lights (as well at all other times too).
