We have had this 2004 car for a couple of years now and it has always towed perfectly UNTIL  our last trip out. Towed fine to Cornwall but on the return journey a couple of times the car just slipped out of 5th gear to neutral , so we ended up coming home in 4th.

Took car to garage, they thought it may be the clutch so did an adjustment but now it happens when not even towing. Car's going back to garage and they now are going to change the oil in the gearbox.........................Has anyone else had this problem and might know the cause - we are preparing ourselves for an expensive strip down of the gearbox or indeed a new one

Hi you may want to read my previous blogs. Had gear box fail on 3 year old Santa Fe in france this summer - had nightmare with hyundai getting repaired etc. Have just had car back on road for over week now - still somit not quite right. Heading to holland for half term - watch this space.

There are known faults - despite what garage says. This is our second Santa fe had transmission probs with 2002 model, then gear box, then bearings. Should have known better but thought new model would be ok - not the case so far.
