Anyone any views on the suitability of these cars for towing? I gather there are three engine variants, 2.4petrol/auto, 2.0 diesel and on later models a 2.2 diesel.
Any known reliability issues ?- I will only be to afford 2nd hand
Cheers

Same car as the Citroen & Peugoet variants, same engines as used by Ford & other manufacturers so engines ok.

I have an 09 plate Peugeot 4007 which uses the 2.2 diesel engine & it is a fantastic towcar for our 1480kg caravan.

Mitsubishi build the Peugeot & Citroen sister cars in their factory alongside the Outlander.

The 2.0 diesel is a VW unit & not as powerful or smooth as the PSA 2.2 unit.

It may be worth getting one of the French cars as they are cheaper used and the 2.2 engine was available from launch in 2007.  The basic spec Peugeot has climate control, 7 seats, cruise control, auto lights, esp, selectable 4wd, alloys etc. Basic Outlanders are much more spartan.

I have a 59 plate 2.0 diesel SE version (virtually warrior spec) which also has climate, bluetooth, 7 seats, 18" alloys and tints on rear windows of the Outlander (company car) and it tows and stops my Lunar Quasar twin no problem, plenty guts in the 140bhp VAG unit I assure you !

If you do look at one of the garlic version make sure the clutch is ok, as there has been known problems with the dual mass version on the 2.2 !

Fantastic car !

Could not fault it in any way !

We had an Outlander until some "nice" person helped themselves to it from outside our house.
Thought it was a great car, loved driving it solo. Good tow car as well.
