I had a Scenic 1.9 dCi 120 as a towcar a few years ago, while it was an ok towcar, beware that the quoted 1300kg tow weight is driver only.
If you load the car with other people & luggage, this has to be removed from the tow weight. Quoting tow weights as driver only is a Renault speciality, other French manufacturers are similar in this respect.

The website www.whattowcar.com is a really good website but you have to apply some caution here. The caravan weights are related to new caravans only so you have to find out the official figures for your caravan first then fiddle them into the corresponding boxes to produce a correct result. For example, I have a Coachman 450/2 1999 model and the plate on the van as well as the official handbook state that the MIRO (unladen weight) is 987 kilo's whereas on the What Towcar website the Miro states 1181 which is almost 200 kilo's more which makes a big difference. The reason is because over the years the manufacturers have made the vans more robust and also added more items internally so the weight creeps up year on year. I use the website myself but I'm merely pointing out that to achieve accurate results you require to enter the correct input first.

It"s a good match for my caravan a 2008 Bailey Discovery Mercury  Series 5  .             Bailey class it a two berth but we have bunks at the front and a fixed bed at the back and the laded weight is 1130 kg. ( But i would not be towing in this weather )
