You should be able to get a good trailer cheaply on Gumtree, Adtrader and even ebay. something around 5x3 would be the bigest that I would go for. There are a few aluminuim type trailers around. I would try and source one with an A frame rather than the straight draw bar. Also make sure the tyres are ok. My mate got one last summer for £80 and it was a cracker, would have bought it myself if he didnt take it, so the bargans are out there you just need to look, and the more you look the more information you will gather up and within no time you will be familure with all thats on offer and what meets your needs.

Just something to think about, have you ever thought about a triler tent? Big and roomy with a kitchen attached to the back, and you sleep off the ground, might find that you could get a got ne for not much dearer that what a new trailer would cost.

I have an Erde trailer. Sourced off of ebay at a very good price. I would advise against buying any home made trailer and go for a branded one such as Erde, Daxara etc. Insurers & breakdown companies do not like the home mades no matter how good.

If you can get one with side extensions even better.

Your tow bar, if you have not got one, may cost more than the trailer.

My only advice on buying a trailer would be to buy as good a one as you can afford, every time I'm overtaken by some of the little cheap trailers I always think of the caning the running gear gets on long journeys at relatively high speeds & probaly never get serviced.

Myself I'd want one using proper car type wheels & tyres as well as good hubs & bearings. I have my favourite make but there are lots out there to choose from. It may pay you to visit a couple of trailer centres to see what's around or go on the Ifor Williams website  http://www.iwt.co.uk/products & see the range available to select from. All manufacturers of good trailers offer a simlar range.

I also suggest you always carry a spare wheel & keep it in a usable state. They only tend to go bang when you're in a position of not being able to access another tyre easily.
