just thought of something. Is the noise coming from the rear? because it could be a sign of wear in your clutch, the cluch could be spining when the car is under a load and the clunk could be the clutch engaging as you pull away.
If not you could check you suspention by loading the car up with some bricks or concrete blocks or save up empty bottles and fill them with water 1L of water = 1kg. Sometime if you bounce the car at each corner you can hear is a shocker is making a clunking noise. If the noise is coming from them you could replace them whith heavy duty type shockers and springs.
Have you every checked the noise weight of yor caravan once you have loaded it up. It is very easy to load it over the 75kg max weight (thats what it is for my mondeo) and as the mondeo has a longish overhang it will put a big load down on your back end.
After that you may need to look at replacing the tow ball, followed by the friction pads in the alko tow hitch.
Alos have you ckeck it is not a gas bottle or something in the front compartment making the noise?
I am no expert but sometimes its the smple things that passes us by,
Good luck
