Hi,

I have a Zetec S-Max (57 Plate) and it tows a 1550kg van without any "sag"...and I don't think it has self levelling suspension.

Mind you, the turbo went at 60k miles and the clutch has just started to slip at 73k.

(My mates at work tell me this is because I tow a van....can't see it myself!)

£400 is pretty reasonable for a towbar from a dealer - up to £600 for the new Santa Fe, for example, and I saw someone saying they were quoted £800 (can't remember the details).

Over 3 years, that's £11 a month - not that much. I don't know how 'mobility' cars work - did you have to buy new?

Try indespension in Bolton, But dont get the brink fixed as its ugly and sticks out loads

I did a lot of research and ended up having one fitted at our local Fraud Dealership.

Sorting out the canbus multiplex wiring is way past the skills of the average tow bar fitter I'm afraid. It cost me over £400 three years ago, so your deal sounds OK to me.

I have the Kuga and the suspension is great without spring assisters or self levelling

There have been some problems posted about Ford towbars not wired for the fridge and dealers not able to sort out

My towbar (also canbus) was fitted at the Ford dealer but they employed a local fitter who wired up 13pin socket and all services work OK

It cost about £270 from memory

If you use the ford loom its a case of 3 or 4 colour coded plug in connections, absolute doddle, otherwise a standard bypass relay and power taken from rear boot socket, and even I managed that without issue.

The ford loom is expensive though, hence me using a bypass relay!

If it is a mobility car would that not mean you need to get a ford fitted towbar incase of any warranty issues?
