The 85% figure is still only 1245. The 1600 figure is for lower trailers where the weight is more central. Not suitable for caravans of that weight at all.

Dont go for the 2ltr 140 tdi the turbo is weak
Are they more reliable than the Passat they are based on?
My last Superb did 390,000 before I traded it for another one, even got £1500 as a trade, in that time it had one clutch 3 sets of brake disc's one drive shaft joint
The oil was changed every 10,000 miles and it still looked as good as the day it was bought new when traded at 7 years old

Difficult to say, but based on my Golf / Octavia experience (6 years and 60K; Octavia faultless): probably about the same.
BUT...have you tried pricing up an identically speced Passat and Superb? Given that they are both mechanically identical cars with different bodies; I'd bet that the Superb is several 1000's cheaper.
i take it u have never driven a vovo with a d5 engine !! 163bhp.50mpg solo,34mpg towing.without a doubt the volvo s80 d5 is the best towcar i have ever had,and been towing for 12 plus years
