While the stabliser bracket may look like a drop plate it is not. Under no circumstances should it be used as such and only one set of holes should be used at any one time.
Fit it with the towball and towbar bolts through the bottom set of holes, tighten them up and then put the stabiliser onto the van in the normal way.
If, once you tension the stabiliser the spring feels slack on the caravan a-frame bracket, then remove the whole lot and reposition the bracket, bolting it by the top 2 holes. This will put more downward tension on the stabiliser spring.
Having used both Alko and Spring Stabilisers, I much prefer the Spring Type as these exert more nose weight on the hitch without adding any actual weight to the van.
