HAving just investigated these I would say why not a 520d - ample power.  I decided against a BMW in the end, rear wheel drive and our last couple of winters........ plus distinct lack of enthusiasm to 'do deal' from the salesman.

Plus Audi came up with a fantastic deal and I've had three in the past, the new one will be my fourth.

I tow our Swift Charisma 555 with a BMW 320d, and it is a very solid tow.  This is our first caravan, but have towed trailers for a number of years.  The in-laws bought a new Volvo V50 last year while they were away on holiday, so I went and picked their trailer tent up for them as there wasn't a towbar on the Volvo.  The Trigano TT towed so much smoother on the BM than on the Volvo.

I've had various BMs over the last 10 years, and although they are really bad in the snow and ice, I am convinced the rear wheel drive is far better for towing
