Can anyone please help we have just brought a Passat 2007. Having fitted towbars before we desided to do this one everything is ok apart from the side lights on the caravan are very dim, has anyone got any ideas please.
Have you used a dedicated wiring system? This car has cam-bus wiring, which means you cant scotch lock into it like you would in the good old days. If you do you could create a fault in the lighting ECU.
Yes same as our new to us touareg we always use same guy for tow bars and he insisted on a wiring kit as it links in and tells you when a bulb fails on van as well as car just o e more thing there not new led lights are they he did mention to us these need some sort of resistor on vws!!!
went the old fashioned way and scotch locked does anybody know how much a dedicated wiring system is likely to cost and has anybody ever fitted one are they difficult to fit
Dedicated loom for you car here I think its the right one, dealer download also required so more expense. Cheaper is bypass relay method but I'm not sure whether you could use that method on your car.
I would remove your scotchlocked electrics from car before driving it again.
Dedicated wiring for 7 pin would be cheaper here download still needed. You could enquire with a towbar fitter if cheaper bypass relay electrics could be fitted instead.
we have had no problems apart from the side lights not being very bright on the caravan we think it may be because the LED lights dont use a lot of power Any thanks to everyone for your help
