We changed cars last year to a peugeot206 that didn't have a towbar. Went through ebay I think it was either a towequip or Towbars direct (can check if you want me to) but got just what we wanted a new good towbar for around £60.00.
Because the car is only a few years old it proved difficult on the eletric side to fit it, so a local garage did it for us for about £40 - £60.00. (A friend who is a mechanic fitted the bar) but I don't think that would have made much difference to the overall cost. It was the electrics that are the tricky bit.
We've had no problems, great towbar and excellent fitting all for around £100.00
Good luck in your search, we thought it would be pricey when we first started looking. I'll get my receipts out if you want more details.
