HI, it definately wasnt see sawing, but moving from side to side and I could feel it in the car. it was when it was gusting wind. I have never towed with my Skoda before but towed our caravan with Hundai Trajet (which was awful and we changed) Hyundai Santa fe, and Kia Sedona, with both of these last couple we never felt the caravan at all.

We did on the way up realise that we needed to slow down as we crested a hill as that caused some swaying but we also had the awning poles under the seats inside the camper. ON the way home I moved the poles to be over the axel and perhaps slightly forward thats the only change I made.

If didnt know better I would have said the car was too light for the camper but that cant be the case I have checked towing weights.

What model Skoda is it, and what is the gross weight of the camper?  If this is the lightest car you have towed with, that may be significant.

Its a Skoda Octavia Estate 2ltrD. Gross weight of the camper is 1000 and kerbweight of the car is in the region of 1340 (however it does state you can tow 1400). It is the lightest car I have towed with. Maybe its normal movement but it doesn't feel right to me.

You are towing around 75% of the weight of the car, so you are well below the recommended maximum of 85%.

My caravan was about 75% of the weight of my last car, but my current car is a lot heavier. The heavier car does make a big difference, but you are towing with a better weight ratio than a lot of people.

I've only toed a folding camper once and it wasn't the best of things to tow, but I don't recall the weight of it. It was quite probably heavier than yours. It was certainly heavier than my caravan.

It was very windy at the weekend, I certainly felt a few gusts on my caravan as I was coming along some A roads, but it felt a lot better on the motorway where I wasn't constantly coming past walls and hedges. This weekend was really not a good test case for the stability of your outfit. I would try experimenting with your nose weight and have another go when it's not so windy.
