Have you any exact detail you can share? Year and spec of car, plus the MTPLM of the van? Initial search indicates a probable maximum towing capacity of 1000kgs for the car, but need further detail from you really.

MTPLM is the max loaded weight, in your case 900kg.

What year is the car as it will make a difference with what it can tow.

Have a look here

I couldn't get the exact caravan, but put in the correct weights, and it doesn't show your car and year so picked a 1.4 Punto with 94bhp, you could amend the figures to match your car if you have them handy.

That match is showing as 87%, be careful of your nose weight by the looks of it.

Fiat Punto - 1.4 16v (70 kW/94 bhp)
Date of manufacture: june 2003 - january 2006. Towball limit: 60 kg (Advise: 50 kg)

Someone who knows a bit more than the basics will advise you better soon, good luck!

Think of the unladen weight as a figure a seller gives you when they are about to sell you a caravan thats too heavy for your car.

A useless number, Except to find out how much/little you can fill it afterwards.

When working out towing limits you need to know he exact gross laden weight. Usually stamped on a plate near the door or the A frame.

900kg caravan puts you close to 100% of the cars kerbweight. Not recommended for people new to towing.

No, that would make the ratio nearly 100%, which you don't want, as you don't have towing experience, and your car is so light anyway. The date you got your licence may also have a bearing on this.

You need something no heavier (MTPLM) than 850Kg. I don't think your car will safely tow this van.

Quite a few of the small Fiats don't have Type Approval. It needs to be checked.

Your not under by 300kg. You will be lucky to be under by 30kg depending if they added the weight of the driver and fuel in the cars kerbweight.
Its possible you may be over 100%.

You should be looking for a caravan with a gross laden weight of 760kg Not the unladen weight. Unladen weight would be around 500kg.

Also the low noseweight means you will have to load the front light which is not good for stability.

Not a very good towcar at all.

Unfortunately, it seems that gazza12345 might have hit the nail on the head. From the info I've found, it appears that your model is not type approved for towing at all.
Sorry

If the car is yr 1995 then pre type approval so ok to tow. Look in car handbook, does it give you max tow weight?
