I have a vauxhall vectra c - estate 2004, - I'm not sure if it's coincidence or not, but ever since having a towbar fitted last year we have had one problem after another - problems normally coinciding after towing.
First we had problems with the alarm going off, now the dipbeam won't work on one side and yesterday a bulb light flashed on the dashboard and the indicators went to a double click as if it wasn't connected properly- however at this point the caravan wasn't attached any way?
Also should we have a light on the dashboard telling us that we are towing?
I'm so fed up with things going wrong with the car - has anyone get any ideas?
I'm guessing badly fitted towbar electrics, probably just spliced in. I suggest you take it to a towbar fitter who knows what they are doing & have a dedicated loom fitted, might cost £100 odd but should solve your problems.
re your veccy c electrics, best order a dedicated wiring kit from your local vauxhall dealer, just tell em year model and vin and registration number, they will be able to look it up on the vauxhall computer system and supply the correct kit.
these cost £78.60 plus vat, takes 2-3days to arrive, friend of mine works at our local one and he informs me that if you don't have the correct loom that plugs in to the car, inside lefthand panel of boot, will cause all sorts of problems with the computer system on car.
