I've got the Berlingo version, 110bhp diesel & it pulls my 700kg caravan almost like it ain't there so 1tonne should be no probs. I got the noseweight down around 55kg but later versions of same car have their noseweight upped to 70kg with no modifications that I can see.
The quoted noseweight limit is there as a nominal figure to prevent rear axle overload & this would include a fully loaded boot. If you are pulled it is car rear axle weight they will check they won't detach caravan & check noseweight.
Obviously try to get noseweight as near quoted figure as poss & it would help to choose a caravan with most storage in middle & rear rather than front.
