you should get early 30s with a manual.make sure when you view that all warning lights come on before starting.i didnt and cost me near a grand to sort.the previous owner blanked out eml and abs lights.had to have new diesel pump and abs sensors.oh and it came from doncaster.

Yes we had 2.7 td lwb Maverick (same as).
Loved it, 25mpg towing, great space, a real work horse and much more servicable interior colour that our Sorento.

We had some strange probs though i.e speedo needle clicking loudly when it got at a certain speed.

Malfunction on the anti theft device, thought the key needed reprogamming but wasn't so, had to have the fuel cut off, bypassed so we could use it.

Window wipers had a habit of staying on in the off position but only on occations. Couldnt detect fault so o.h installed a switch for such occations.
Only changed it really because it was 'fraying' round the edges

Someone told me the Automatic & Manual boxes have different towing abilities, I can't remember whether he said the Auto was heavier duty than the manual. I know he advised me to go for a 3 litre model. All I need to do is find one with low mies on it.

I reckon we'll end up wit a 2.7 too. I'm kicking myself because we had chance of one a couple of weeks ago but with mega miles on it, we've got cars coming out of our ears at present so chose to leave it. Time will telll.

The dash seems to be a bad point with them,if any of the needles stick or like we had in ours a faulty temp gauge you have to replace all the dash as you cant fix a seperate unit.I would also advise that you check the key fob as woman with long finger nails pierce the rubber on it and it costs 125 quid to replace..

I've had a Terrano from new and I can't wait to get rid! I've has all sorts of problems with it. The clutch and dual mass fly wheel went at 24,000 miles and 30.000 miles later the gear box went along with another clutch! With all the other faults it's cost me a fortune (I joke to mates that I've replaced everything apart from the rear view mirror and one of the back wheel nuts!). I'm saving up and expect that next year I'll trade it in for a Sorento or a Hyundai Santa Fe. I think I've been pretty unlucky with the Terrano but have religeously had the oil / filter changed every 6 months and kept on top of the maintenance. I also don't razz it about and don't usually go over 60 mph on the motorway (think I must have bought a Friday afternoon built one!!!).

I have run a terrano's & a ford maverick for years ,ultra cheap to buy ,many parts on eBay ,pulls our twin no problems,no the most luxurious car but it gets the job done, speedo console can be refurbished ,check for rust under front wing plastic trim, also drill some drain hole in the sills by rear door as they fill with water,if they rot I have been told fiesta sills can be modified to fit.....
Enjoy your new toy
