could you tell me if a vauxhall vectra 1.8 diesel hatchback car is a very reliable for towing a caravan upto the weight of 1.5 ton because im thinking of buying one this week.

im pretty sure vectra hatchbacks can tow up to 1400kg. Mine is a 1.8 petrol SRI and 85% rule for that is approx 1150kg

it will depend on the vectras age the older vectra b could tow 1500kg max, i used to tow with one of these at around 1500kgs with the 2L petrol and it did struggle alittle.

I have the 2003 2.0 Dti hatchback and can only pull 1350kgs max not the 1500kgs as quoted in all the specs from Vauxhall. best to check the weights on the drivers side door pillar

The below is mine



Max weight of car is 2000kg
Gross train weight is 3350kg
1 is front axle weight
2 is rear axle weight

Not sure which Vectra you mean as there has never been a 1.8 Diesel to my knowledge.

The first mid 90's ones (Vectra B) were 1.7's, then 2.0 Di & DTi models.

Early Vectra C models were 2.0 or 2.2 DTi models. Later Vectra C models were 120hp or 150 hp 1.9 CDTi models.
